Overview

Podere Le Ripi Amore & Follia Toscana Rosso IGT 2015 is a captivating expression of Syrah from the heart of Tuscany. Crafted with a philosophy of minimal intervention and biodynamic principles, this wine blends intensity with finesse, showcasing the unique terroir of Montalcino. The 2015 vintage benefited from a warm growing season, resulting in a Syrah with exceptional depth, richness, and complexity.

Vinification and Aging

  • Fermentation: Spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts in open-top oak vats, ensuring a pure expression of terroir.
  • Aging: 24 months in large Slavonian oak barrels and French tonneaux, followed by bottle aging before release.
  • Bottling: Unfiltered and unfined to preserve its authenticity and character.

Tasting Notes

  • Appearance: Deep ruby red with violet reflections.
  • Aroma: A complex bouquet of ripe blackberries, plums, and blueberries, layered with notes of black pepper, tobacco, violets, and a touch of smoked meat.
  • Palate: Full-bodied and opulent, with velvety tannins and a vibrant acidity that balances the wine’s richness. The dark fruit core is complemented by nuances of licorice, cocoa, and Mediterranean herbs.
  • Finish: Long and persistent, with a savory, mineral-driven character and lingering spice.

Food Pairing

This Syrah pairs beautifully with grilled or roasted meats, such as lamb, venison, and beef. It also complements hearty pasta dishes, aged cheeses, and Tuscan-inspired fare featuring truffle, porcini mushrooms, or wild boar.

Serving Recommendations

  • Serving Temperature: 16–18°C (61–64°F) to enhance its aromatic complexity.
  • Decanting: Recommended for at least 1–2 hours before serving to fully express its depth and structure.

Aging Potential

The 2015 Amore & Follia is structured for aging, with the potential to evolve gracefully over the next 10–15 years. Over time, it will develop additional layers of earthiness, dried fruit, and spice, enhancing its already remarkable complexity.
