Overview
San Felice "Vigorello" IGT 2013 is a testament to the winery’s pioneering role in the creation of Super Tuscan wines. First produced in 1968, Vigorello showcases a refined Bordeaux-style blend with a deep Tuscan identity. The 2013 vintage reflects a cooler growing season, leading to a wine of remarkable balance, elegance, and age-worthy structure.
Vinification and Aging
- Fermentation: Fermented in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperatures.
- Maceration: Prolonged maceration to ensure optimal extraction of tannins and aromas.
- Aging: Aged for 24 months in French oak barriques, followed by additional bottle aging before release.
Tasting Notes
- Appearance: Deep ruby red with hints of garnet on the rim.
- Aroma: Complex and layered, with aromas of ripe blackberries, cassis, and dark cherries, complemented by notes of tobacco, graphite, vanilla, and baking spices.
- Palate: Medium to full-bodied, with firm yet refined tannins. The palate is rich with dark fruit flavors, hints of espresso, and balsamic undertones, balanced by vibrant acidity.
- Finish: Long and persistent, with elegant minerality, spice, and a touch of dark chocolate.
Food Pairing
Pairs beautifully with Tuscan game dishes, grilled meats, aged Pecorino cheese, and truffle-infused pasta. It also complements braised beef, roasted lamb, and rich mushroom risottos.
Serving Recommendations
- Serving Temperature: 18°C (64°F) to enhance its aromatics and structure.
- Decanting: Recommended for at least 1 hour to allow the wine to fully open up.
